I thought I'd turn attention tonight to some of the other crocus just getting going out front (these are in the original bulb bed). I don't know the proper name of this particular variety because, like many of the original bulbs we planted, they were part of a mix. But whatever they are, I always look forward to these particular ones to step in and deliciously complement the masses of yellow we have elsewhere in the bed.
As I've said in previous posts, these recent pictures are but the first of the crocus to bloom this year, and there are a lot more just breaking the ground at this point. And as soon as we can get through this odd stretch of one or two nice days, then three or four dreary, chilly days, then we should start seeing even more members of the bulb community start strutting their stuff out front!

At this point I should note that I'll be transitioning from the trusty 2650 to a brand new Fuji S700 that just arrived today. The 2650 has served me admirably over the past five years, but I've eventually outgrown it, and lately it has been acting bit on the eccentric side, so I decided that with an imminent tax refund, I could finally afford something better. And after having played with the S700 a bit after work today, I can already see that I have a much more powerful and flexible camera on my hands ... once I figure out how everything works! At any rate, you'll start seeing its work here soon ...

Those are so beautiful!
I sooo agree! It's hard not to love crocus because they're such a cheery harbinger of Spring ... funny how most of the colours we go for in the garden appear in the first bloomers ... the yellows, oranges, purples and blues ... please don't psycho-analyse that!
